Floppy disk emulation format3/2/2024 ![]() ![]() HFE is where I think emulators should focus for their "more capable" floppy format: SSD / DSD are ubiquitous of course, both in emulators and also Gotek + FlashFloppy understands them fine. What about devices such as the Kyroflux and the GOTEK - presumably these have a floppy image format? ![]() So, my question: what formats are in common use? I know about the plain sector dump formats (SSD, DSD etc.) and I also know that B-Em supports FDI, and I gather than is a format with several different options for how high or low level you want. I know we have discussed the general philosophy of whether to be using low level formats that are capable of storing the more elaborate protection schemes or whether the basic sector dumps are sufficient for most purposes but that's not quite what I am asking. I was thinking this must have been discussed by searching didn't reveal anything comprehensive. ![]()
